Will Cooper Cooper’s first play Book of Leaves, a taut and moving family drama, with a breathtaking twist, was a finalist at the renowned Ashland New Plays Festival and premiered in Chicago at the Village Arts Theatre. Jade Heart, a heartwarming play that follows the life of a Chinese infant girl adopted by a single American mom first ran at Chicago Dramatists where it received enthusiastic critical and audience reception. Jade Heart was also produced in San Diego at the esteemed Moxie Theatre in San Diego, once again receiving high praise. 

Margin of Error, a provocative and suspenseful drama, explores the personal and professional ethics of a famous physicist and his devastating impact on the people close to him.  Margin of Error kicked off the inaugural season of The Roustabouts Theatre Company, which Cooper co-founded. The play was nominated by the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle for its Craig Noel “Outstanding New Play” award.

Will’s latest play gUnTOPIA, is a thought-provoking satirical comedy that casts a spotlight on America’s obsession with firearms. Drawing wide attention and discussion, it premiered in 2023. Cooper’s other full-length plays include Shadows of Athens, an intriguing, action-packed story  about the conflicting romances of a young Plato, and Movement Man, a play about the clash of a young man’s idealism and love life with his familial responsibilities. Both Shadows of Athens and Movement Man have been produced in staged readings at Chicago Dramatists.
